For take your kid to work day, I went to my dads office in downtown and learned about what his company does. Throughout the day we did a tour where we got to see the office, we did some interactive activities to learn about the different roles within the company and we got to see what the company does.
- What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 6th? Use details,
I heard people talking during their breaks. Keyboard clicking, and typical office noises. There was a lot of bright lights that were a bit disorienting because they felt almost blinding, there were lots of background noises that came from lots of different things like people talking or the cars outside or even the occasional siren.
- What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work? Why?
The people at the office were all very friendly and inviting. It felt like everyone was passionate about what they do and why they do it and they take the time out of their day to help you if you had a problem or didn’t understand how to do something.
- What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work? Why?
Waking up at 5 in the morning and having to commute over an hour each way. There was multiple crackheads and homeless people around the area that made me feel unsafe and a little paranoid because there was so much going on all at once it was almost overwhelming.
- What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit? Why? How complex some if the roles at my dad’s work were and what they do as a company. Also how much the roles at the company vary and how they all work together to complete whatever the task at hand may be.
