How has your awareness of Coast Salish Art in our community changed? Be specific and give at least one example.
- My awareness of Coast Salish art has changed a lot after this amazing and informative presentation. It was so cool to learn about all the shapes they use to make their beautiful drawing and the deeper meanings behind them. in fact this has inspired me to do a bit of reasearch i found out that at the Coquitlam Public Library’s City Centre branch, there are these awesome lamps with butterflies and hummingbirds in bright blue and orange colors. I found out that Katzie First Nation artist Rain Pierre designed them. He worked with graphic designer Dusty Yurkin to create 37 new Indigenous art lamps for the library. I also discovered that for Coquitlam’s 125th anniversary, the city put up 12 big salmon sculptures all around town.
