An assignment/project I’m proud of

In Foods class, my group and I were given a recipe to make okonomiyaki. For those of you who don’t know, okonomiyaki is a savory Japanese pancake dish made with a wheat flour batter and shredded cabbage served hot with other additional toppings. It’s cooked on a flat iron griddle called a teppan. The name okonomiyaki is from the words okonomi meaning “how/what you like” or what you prefer, and yaki meaning cooked. At first, I was hesitant when I learned the ingredients and how to cook it but while making it, I had a lot of fun and it turned out pretty good. The result was a slightly crispy pancake with a soft middle, topped with seaweed, bonito flakes, okonomiyaki sauce and some other things. Unfortunately I can’t upload the photos but I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to learn and broaden their knowledge on foods.

  1. Sounds delicious! I would have loved to have seen a picture. If you need help embedding the photos, come see me in the Career & Tech Centre during block 3.
