Core Competencies

Communication

In Soccer, I have done many games and practices with my teammates which is an excellent example of communication because we must use communication to our advantage. During practice or games, communication in a key factor is succeeding as a team because there is communication on the pitch and off. When you are on the pitch, communication helps others and others can help you, for example, if my teammate has the ball, I can communicate on the incoming players attempting to get the ball.

There is also communication off the pitch. One of these examples is reflection. This is primarily used by coaches to critique the plays and helps us understand what we did and what we could have done. For example, after a tough game the coach talks to us and asks us what went wrong. We all self reflect and point out things that we could have done better and help each other understand how we can better ourselves.

One example that I could use is me winning the Provincial Cup a couple years ago. During the league time, we constantly asked the coaches what we could do better so we can prepare for the provincials. Throughout the games, we learned our mistakes and changed so we got better. Eventually, we made it to the finals and won by the eighth round of penalties. After the tournament, the coaches asked if us if there was anything would work on. We all answered and concluded that there is always something to learn, and communication can help pass along those learning opportunities.

Creative thinking.

When I play soccer during practices and games, I find that I use creative thinking during them. I noticed that thinking creatively is a key component in being unpredictable to your opponents. One example that I can give is learning new moves or strategies. When I am being taught something new, it gives me the opportunity to improve in some way, but I can further improve when I take those lessons and give them my own twist to them.

One time that I used creative thinking was making my signature move. When I was in training, my coach was teaching us new moves to use during games and I saw that I liked one. I noticed that the move was difficult for me to do because I am tall, so I mixed it with another move and now it was easy for me to use and unpredictable to the opponents.

Social responsibility

In soccer, I find that I use social responsibility. Soccer is a social game because you must work with coaches and teammates which is sometimes hard, but if you take responsibility, it can make playing easier. One example is communication with teammates and leaving a good impression. When you are playing a game for example, you must prove yourself to your teammates to be reliable with the ball so communication is key. If you give a good impression and take responsibility in making a good connection with your teammates, it will allow you to do more things.

One example of this is when I first got promoted to Division 1. When I was new to the team, not many people knew me, so I did not have the connection that my teammates already had, but after some talking and communication, almost everybody knew me.

Information Fluency Paragraph.

“My paragraph”

Throughout my research on the topic of “Technology Enhances Sports Field Management.” I found out many things, including the fact coaches are actively solving the field dilemma about how fields are not always in good condition. Secondly, they are employing new technologies such as smart locks to keep equipment safe, but they are also using drones to scan the field for irregularities. Overall, I found my research to be helpful because it gave me insight about what the organizations for sports are planning”

“Ai generated.”

Sports field management faces significant challenges due to the immense popularity of youth sports, with an estimated 60 million participants nationwide. Hillsborough County, managing Florida’s largest sports field system, experiences intense daily use with 40,000 youths utilizing 270 fields. To maintain these play surfaces, innovative and technical tools are essential. The integration of cell-connected irrigation and soil moisture sensors ensures precise water management, optimizing turf growth and playability while conserving resources. Additionally, deploying outdoor digital Bluetooth smart locks enhances security and access control, while cell-configured sport lighting controls offer flexibility and efficiency in managing field illumination. Advancements in equipment, such as larger infield groomers and drone-mounted near infrared cameras, further aid in field maintenance and evaluation, showcasing the evolving landscape of sports field management technology under the stewardship of professionals like Greg Brown at Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation.

  • What was your experience in using AI?
  • It can be helpful at times, and can sometimes be unhelpful because Ai never knows exactly how you want your work done. Overall, if used right, Ai can be a great tool to not copy and paste your work, but to find ideas and further explain those ideas yourself.
  • Was the paragraph the AI generated accurate? Fact-check any new information and see if it’s true.
  • The Ai paragraph is true because it took inserts from the original text it was given, it also elaborated on those ideas and they were also true.
  • Was the exercise useful? How can this help you with your learning going forward?
  • This exercise was helpful because it demonstrated that Ai can be wrong at times, but usually is correct. It also uses advanced grammar to explain complicated questions easily and now I know how to use Ai in a more useful manner.
  • Were your results expected? Yes or No? Explain.
  • Yes, I knew that Ai has been out for a while now and it has become so advanced, companies and corporations are starting to utilize it because of its power. I found my use of Ai was how I imagined it, the Ai would take quotes from the text and it would elaborate.

Take your kid to work day

  1. What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 1st?

Throughout the workday, I heard Zoom meetings with colleagues, phone calls with different agencies and lots of typing on the computer. I saw a desk with a computer with a keyboard and mouse. I saw files and organizers everywhere and I smelt paper and the warm air from the computer. I feel the computer keyboard on my fingers and the weight of the files in my hands. I also feel the pressure of the workspace and the need to do my job fast and efficiently.

  1. What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work?

The area where the work is very convenient and easy to access because you don’t need to travel somewhere to work. I also liked the feeling of being in charge and being responsible for my job and the position of where I am.

  1. What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work?

The job is very anti-social and not being near people would discourage me from going to work. The job is also less physical than would be needed in a daily exercise schedule.

  1. What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit?

The is variety in the projects that I do and the types of vehicles I deal with. There is always something different about each project and I think that it is cool.
