We are a 1:1 school which means each and every student and staff member uses a device to enhance teaching and learning, and most importantly, help prepare our students with tools and skills to be successful in the future. In order to ensure the success of the 1:1 program we have put in place a variety of support systems.

Digital Footprint

A digital footprint is the collection of all the traces you leave in electronic environments as you use or move through them. Some is content you actively volunteer—like your Facebook profile. Other material is passive—the cookies a site stores in your browser, the content your district collects about your use of their equipment, etc. All this data can be aggregated to build a profile of you and your behavior.

Tips for Creating a Positive Digital Footprint

  • Always THINK
  • Never post anything that you might find embarrassing later.
  • Be careful with the pictures you post on your public profiles. Remember others will see them and judge you based on their content.
  • Change the privacy settings on your social networking sites so that only your Friends can see your information
  • Do not disclose your personal address, phone number, passwords. Bank card numbers…etc even in private messages. There is always the possibility of somebody hacking into your account and finding them.
  • Do not post things to bully, hurt, blackmail, insult, or afflict any kind of harm on others
  • Always keep in mind that once information has been posted online, it can be almost impossible to remove because of archiving and file sharing. Even though you deactivate your accounts, the information may still be retrieved by others.

TOKTWD

On TOKTWD, I visited my aunt’s business, THE BARE BAR in Bangalore as I was in India at the time. THE BAR BAR is a wellness and self care brand made for your pleasure. THE BARE BAR sells body butters, body oils, lip balms, body washes, deodorants, candles and so much more. I went with my parents, my aunt and cousin as my aunt is founder and managing director and my cousin has become CEO and head of management. We went around the office, checked out the labs where all the products are made by hand, the in office warehouse, displays and looked at the soon to be launched branding. At the end we even got to pick out some products to bring home too!

  1. What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 6th? Use details

When I visited THE BARE BAR in Bangalore, I heard meetings and packaging of products but it’s an overall quiet office. I saw two labs, a small warehouse room, storage units, bare bar products and people working. One lab is for all the products which do not use preservatives, and the other lab is for products that use preservatives, but all the products are fully 100% clean, natural and handmade.

  1. What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work? Why?

For me, knowing that this environment is a clean, positive, colorful, happy workplace founded and owned by my aunt would really motivate me to wake up every day and attend work, I will also most likely work here as a summer job over the next few years.

  1. What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work? Why?

The only thing about this office/work environment that would discourage me from attending work here every day is that it can get stressful as it is a small business and can get busy during heavy gifting times such as Christmas, Diwali, and other holidays. Another downside is that it’s away from the city and there is heavy traffic at most times, like most of the city.

  1. What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit? Why?

One thing that I found interesting about this workplace was the fact that EVERYTHING about this business runs in this office. From the product brainstorming to the formulating, to packaging, to photography up until shipping. I found this interesting because the workplace is such a positive workspace with so much going on.
