Take Your Kids To Work Day

On take your kid to work day on November 6th, I went to the BC Hydro office with my Dad. Both my parents work at BC Hydro but I went with my dad because it was his turn to go to work that day. I first had an introduction speech for all the Grade 9’s and then we had 2 activities. After these activities, we had pizza lunch and then had 2 more stations to attend. The last station was my favorite because we went n a bucket truck which went up really high.

  1. What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 6th? Use details

I could see multiple adults teaching us and talking to us, I could hear multiple children talking and chatting while we discussed with our peers, I could smell the warm pizza that we were about to eat, and I could feel the egg while I was constructing a cushion for it when it would fall.

  1. What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work? Why?

The fun adults there would talk and tell stories about their past and talk with us. For example, there were these two people from BC Hydro producing team where they would post fun videos for the internet about safety and power. Their names were Dave and Jocelyn.

  1. What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work? Why?

I would not want to come to work because there are so many buildings and hallways that are hard to track and move around.

  1. What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit? Why?

I found it interesting that there are multiple jobs in BC Hydro and not just one job all about electricity. There was one job about social media that was centered about the aspects about BC Hydro.
