While working on this piece I learned a lot about the traditional art and meanings of the Coast Salish peoples. I found that this art really broadened my awareness and understanding of the tribes around us. I really enjoyed the minimalistic yet eye catching style of the art while still holding a deep meaning. The reason I chose the raven is because my indigenous spirit animal is the raven, although the region i am from is different from Coast Salish the animals and their meanings are very similar.
