• How has your awareness of Coast Salish Art in our community changed? Be specific and give at least one example.

I believe my awareness has significantly changed after this project. Before, I used to think that this was just a unique and beautiful art style of animals that live here. However, this assignment has taught me that each animal has its own meaning. For example, I chose to study the eagle. The eagle can represent several things, such as strength, wisdom, spiritual protection, or a connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. There are many other animals, each with their own similarities and differences. Another example I found interesting was the orca, or killer whale. The orca represents family, harmony, and strong community ties. I am very happy that I got to learn about the cultural and symbolic meanings behind this art because I find it truly fascinating and intriguing that such simple looking art can be so well thought out and meaningful.
