Q3 Proud Assignment

The assignment I am most proud of from Quarter 3 is a trigonometry assignment I had to do for my Math 10 class. I am proud of this assignment because it was very difficult for me to do, but I did my best and handed it in on time. I only had a few days to learn the entire unit and hand in a 7 page assignment, not to mention all the homework questions we had to do prior to the assignment. I am proud of the way I managed my time and finished the assignment efficiently. Math 10 typically makes me more proud of my work than other classes, because I am in grade 9 and doing the grade above for math. I also got a good mark on it, so I’m happy that my hard work payed off. I attached a photo of one of the pages from my Trigonometry assignment, and a page with  my work.

Break The Fake Part 2 – Birds playing volleyball

I found this viral video of birds playing volleyball on twitter, and decided to check if it was true or fake.

  1. First of all, the person who uploaded it didn’t have a blue checkmark and the account wasn’t very professional.
  2. Then, I found the original source of the video, which was posted on a website called “The Times of India”

3. Next, I searched up the website “The Times of India” on Wikipedia, and the website seemed pretty legit. It’s a very popular daily newspaper in India, and has been around for many years. It also didn’t say anything about the newspaper ever posting fake  news.

4. I also searched up the “birds playing volleyball” video on Snopes.com, and I didn’t find the video there.

5. Finally, I checked other sources and found that there are several other videos of these birds playing volleyball, and none claimed that it was fake.

In conclusion, the video is in fact true, and it went viral!

Proud Assignment

One assignment from Quarter 2 that I’m proud of is a project I did on Ukraine for Social Studies. I had to answer 12 questions and write 12 paragraphs with my partner, on the Ukraine revolution. I’m proud of this assignment because it was very difficult and tiring, but I stayed focused and finished it all keeping up the quality of my work throughout the entire project. I had to do hours of research and days of writing, and it was all in French. After we were done with the writing, my partner and I had to prepare a presentation for the class and pull it off in only a few days. I think that this assignment is very memorable because it took a lot of work, and how me and my partner like to put it, it took “our blood, sweat and tears” to finish it. I’m mostly proud that I wrote the entire thing in French, and then got a great mark on it!

I attached a photo of the first paragraph (which was part of the questions), and the powerpoint!

Volleyball

Volleyball has been around for over 100 years, invented by William G. Morgan of Holyoke in 1895. For decades it was simply a recreational pastime, played at picnics and barbecues until about the 1970’s when it began to turn into a competitive sport. In the 1990’s, its popularity began to really rise, particularly for women. Today, volleyball is played by many people and is accessible to all ages. It’s played recreationally and competitively and can be played on many surfaces such as indoor courts, sand, and grass. I started playing volleyball in grade 6, when I joined the volleyball club. I wasn’t very serious about it and missed lots of practices. I became way more dedicated in grade 7 and especially grade 8, and really started to love the sport. I even tried out for a club last year and got in! That was my first year playing volleyball competitively in a club,  this year is my second. There are lots of reasons why I’m passionate about volleyball, but really, it’s just so fun for me. I love the teamwork, relying on your team to win together, and how competitive the game is. Aside from playing competitively, I also enjoy playing with my friends and family. It’s very popular among my family friends, and we play a lot at picnics. Volleyball is one of my favourite hobbies, and definitely my favourite sport. I’m really looking forward to playing in club this year again, and hopefully next school year as well!

Communications 9 – Podcast

In communications 9, we had to record a podcast. My group and I made 2 podcasts which we were very proud of. I am proud of the podcast because it had to be fully spoken in French, and it still turned out great and easygoing. The first topic was about onions, and basically my group argued about which type of onion is the best/worst, and some of us didn’t even like onions at all. It was very fun to plan and record, and it turned out very funny. The second topic was about Halloween and how bizarre it was during a pandemic. We had lots of stories to tell, and overall the project was just a very fun experience.

Guidelines for commenting on my blog

hey! Thank you for visiting my blog. Here are some guidelines to help you with writing comments. Please remember to be thoughtful when commenting. Thanks!

  • Read the article. Read all the comments. Be part of the full discussion.

I think it is very important to read the full article and other comments to have a better idea of what you comment on. Reading the article partially or not visiting the comment section can make you interpret things differently or not have a full understanding of where I was going with the idea of the blog.

  • Constructive criticism only. Critique the idea, not the person. Being derogatory or inflammatory distracts the conversation. Respect other people and their opinions and ideas.

Remember to always respect other people’s opinions and be open-minded. Hateful words, bullying, etc is not acceptable.

  • Use good grammar and spelling. Mistakes cause readers to focus on how you write, not your ideas.

I suggest you read over your comment and make sure it makes sense before posting it. Remember, I don’t know what you’re thinking in your head so your comment should be very clear.

  • Treat people the way you want to be treated.

This is very important because I want my blog to be a very safe environment for all opinions, and it is important to respect them as I would respect yours. Always think twice before saying something, and if you wouldn’t say it to me in person then don’t comment it either.
