DL10 Video

I chose to do hockey as my subject for this video. In the video I *attempt to teach you how to do a wrist shot with a hockey ball. Video quality was bad during the rendering rip.

Q3 Assignment

For Quarter 3, another assignment I am proud of was my Communications 9 poem recitation project. I enjoyed searching for a poem, getting to understand the meaning of the poem itself, and see what the poet was thinking when he was writing it. I was never good with poems before so seeing firsthand what a poet can do with words was pretty cool. I thought that reciting it was fun and I enjoyed learning more about poetry in French.

Break The Fake 2 (UFO Footage Released by Pentagon)

The article I did my assignment on was about video/image footage of U.F.O sightings. The footage was released by the new york times and many other media pages around early 2019.
Here's Why The Pentagon Officially Released UFO Video Footage

By using the skills I learnt in my previous break the fake assignment, I verified that the site and the post / footage itself was real. Going through snopes and looking through other articles on the topic directed me to other verified sources such as CNN and Global News. Using keywords hoax, fake etc did not lead me to any articles of the topic being fake. The New York Times were one of the first media pages to broadcast this topic and was one of the most viewed sites. I visited the links under the page, and found that all of them had verified checks beside their user (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter). I also went through different reputable sites and found the exact same footage, with the same audio and no visible video editing or effects.

Conclusion : The article was real, and the footage was verified and not faked.

Quarter 2 Proud of Assignment

For Quarter 2, an assignment I was proud of was naming multivalent and polyatomic compounds. We were given chemical formulas and names and we had to write them as the opposite of how they were presented. Say I was given Sodium cyanide, I would need to write it in its chemical formula (NaCN). I struggled with this at the beginning because I hadn’t really worked with the periodic table before and was just getting familiar with it. Overall, this assignment helped me get confident with naming multivalent and polyatomic compounds, and compounds in general. It also helped me get to know the periodic table and be able to use it efficiently.

My Passion

Hockey is something I value a lot and it’s my favorite sport. In my opinion it is the hardest sport to play because of the speed and skill needed. You need to be able to skate which is hard enough to learn on its own and can stickhandle and control a small puck while keeping your feet moving. Hockey’s physical side with hitting is where things get competitive, and that’s why I like playing hockey: because it brings out the competitive side in me. aside from hockey being a tough sport, it also has a history that goes back to the ancient days with the Romans, Greeks and many different old civilizations. Hockey’s history, and how much people value the sport is the reason I love playing it so much. It has great diversity and involves the community to bring everyone together.

Q1 Project

Hey readers, today I’m gonna be telling you about the project I feel most proud of during Quarter 1.

Quarter 1 was interesting as it took some time getting used to the dramatic change in high school, and the confusing schedule. I had hockey academy and math 9 at Centennial for Quarter 1. A project I was really proud of was my graphing data project. We collected information from polls and forms and had to graph the data down using math formulas.

I spent a lot of time working on graphing as I wasn’t really good at working with graphs, and in the end I ended up with a 89% on the project. I was proud of this project because I struggled with graphing and algebra but after working hard and practicing a ton, I finally understood how to do it.

Reader Comment Guidelines

Hey there fellow reader. Today I’d like to go over comments and some guidelines that should be followed when commenting on my blog.

I expect equality to all races, cultures, genders etc. Here are four guidelines to follow:

  • Basic respect for culture, race, identity, beliefs, traditions etc.
  • No inappropriate content or jokes that are not relevant to my blog.
  • No racial slurs or cursing.
  • Please think twice before saying something; you may not realize that you are offending people. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it.

An example of a respectful comment would be:

  • Hey! I just saw your post and I agree with the guidelines that you’ve set out. Perhaps you could also include a few extra rules such as no links or malicious threats?

An example of a comment that breaks the guidelines would be:

  • Dude it doesn’t matter what I say they’re just words shut up you’re kinda stupid.

Have fun reading.

-Mark.
