PROJECT I AM PROUD OF, Q3

The assignment I am proud of from quarter 3 is a part of a short story project. In this group project, we are given a short story, and there are multiple parts and assignments to the project. We split the different parts for different people in the group to do. In this specific assignment, I was assigned to write an explication page; that is, I wrote about the short story’s setting, flashback, irony, plot… etcetera. I am proud of this assignment because I spent a lot of time on writing this assignment. In addition, another contributing factor of me being proud of this is that in the project that includes this assignment, our group received 81/80.

Break the Fake – Psychology

This post is regarding my last post about my passion: Psychology. In that article, I talked about my opinion on psychology, and I briefly explained the psychology behind two types of learning. This post will demonstrate the steps I took to verify my information and the source from my last post.

Firstly, I looked up the source of the article I referenced in my last post: Funk & Wagnalls.
funk and wagnalls wikipedia page
-I found that the source really exists from Wikipedia, I believe they are who they say they are because they are listed as a source in EBSCO, which is a very trustworthy source, and due to the fact that this source is an old encyclopedia, I could not find any social media.

Secondly, I verified the source. Due to the fact that there wasn’t many articles on this encyclopedia, I could only find basic information like targeted audience and how to access Funk & Wagnalls.

Thirdly, after I verified the source I referenced, I checked the information I gathered from Funk & Wagnalls in a google search. I searched up: “Classical conditioning and instrumental learning”. To my surprise, I could not find a single thing about instrumental learning. Later, after a bit of reading and comparing, I found that “instrumental learning” is the equivalent to Operant Conditioning.

Lastly, I have come to a conclusion that the information contained within the article is real, but “instrumental learning” might be a typo or a mistake in the article.

Project I am Proud of, Q2

In Quarter two, I had Science 9 with Ms. Kendall as my second block class. We were in the unit of Biology; more specifically, reproduction. We learnt different types of reproduction: Binary Fission, Budding, Fragmentation, Vegetative Reproduction, and Spore Reproduction. Moreover, for asexual reproduction we had to draw a comic on all the different types of asexual reproductions.

I am proud of this project because I put a lot of effort into it; furthermore, it helped me memorize the different types of asexual reproduction for the unit test.

In conclusion, I think our teacher used a smart way to make us memorize what we usually would categorize as “bland” school work and made it interesting; in other words, it is a creative way and I think others should try using this method too.

Here’s My Comic.

Passion – Psychology

Psychology is the study of human behaviour. Psychology is understanding the way humans and animals think, learn, and act. When we understand psychology, it can make our day-to-day social interactions more understandable and read them, hear the things they want to say but didn’t.

I am interested in psychology because I used to always think that human behaviour was always random, and patterns in behaviours didn’t exist because humans aren’t school subjects, and that we all behave very differently, but when I started to look into psychology, I found out that humans all act somewhat the same. Our body language, the way we act, it all somehow makes sense.

Psychology isn’t only useful for our own interests; it can be used in a lot of places, understanding psychology can help us understand and control the outcome of certain things, for example, teaching. When we learn, there are two main types: classical conditioning and instrumental learning.

To put it simply, classical conditioning is a response type of learning. A lot of animals learn this way, like we teach our pets. If you rang a bell each time you gave a dog a treat, the next time you ring the bell the dog will most likely be expecting a treat and gets ready to eat.

Instrumental learning is like classical conditioning, except for the fact that instead of training the dog to expect a treat, you can relate the bell to an action they have to do, and when you ring the bell and they do the action, they get a treat. When they’re used to this, the next time you ring a bell, they will do the action related to ringing the bell

Knowing this might be helpful, not only because you now half-know how to train your dog, but when teachers teach, they’re using a very similar thing. When they ask you a question and you give the correct answer, they usually give you a word of praise. Praise to humans is like a mental treat, and next time the teacher asks a question, you would want to answer because you know there’s likely to be praise after; this also encourages students to pay attention in class and study, because then they’ll be more likely to know the answer to the question the teacher asks.

Project I am Proud of, Q1

In Quarter one, I had Communications 9 with Mme Deacon as my first block. We did a unit on the film industry, and we had to create a French film in groups which share our favourite genre.

In our group that we named “Lunettes Asiatiques” (Meaning “Asian Glasses”) we created a Sci-Fi film based on a video game: Among us. We started from scratch, had an idea, wrote a script, filmed the scenes, edited it, and added soundtracks. We used about 2 weeks time to create a 7 minute short film that we worked really hard on. I am proud of it because it was the first mini film I have ever participated in creating. It was very satisfying to see our final product and the positive reactions of our peers when they watched it.

Heres a link to the mini film.

Guidelines for Commenting on My Blog.

Hello, and thank you for taking time to visit Eunice’s “Best” blog.
Here are some of my guidelines to follow when commenting on my blog to keep me and everyone else feeling safe and respected. 🙂

  • No spamming.
    • Spamming (Repetition of the same comment) is an unnecessary way of commenting, there is no point, and it would flood out what other people also have to say.
  • No foul language.
    • My hope is that my blog would be a safe and respectful space, although I am unbothered by foul language, some others might not feel the same way, so I think it would be best if it is avoided.
  • Be respectful.
    • If there is something you can’t say to the person/ people’s faces, don’t say it. Think before you do anything, think about how it affect people. Use common sense while commenting! (:
  • Ask questions and give constructive criticism.
    • This one isn’t required, but it would help a lot to have some feedback from others to improve my posts and blog. Asking questions encourages socializing; and socializing is an important and enjoyable aspect being humans, and it’s also something I personally enjoy a lot.

Example:
The post: “Today we went on a field trip to a museum, everything in it was so awesome and has so much value. I really liked it!”

Comment: “Wow, that sounds really nice, Eunice! Which museum did you guys go to? Next time maybe you could post a picture too! I would really like to see.”
