My project topic is transforming healthcare with Artificial Intelligence(AI). My goals are:

To identify the areas which AI can support the delivery of healthcare.
To highlight some evidence about the benefits of AI applications.

I collected the data form Gale and Google. I learned that the Gale is more academic; however, it lacks of the editorials, reviews, and press release from professional organizations to guide us for further searching.

The process of utilizing these sites has widen my knowledge about AI. There is considerable excitement internationally surrounding the applications of AI in healthcare; however, the translation and adoption of AI within the healthcare systems are slow.

My Passions

My passion now is about AI in healthcare. It is because AI has been recently applied in healthcare, and it has achieved certain success. This means that more people will be treated effectively and AI is no longer limited itself in calculation and data security. This makes me much interesting.

Does the combination of AI and doctor’s experience really improve patient healthcare? According to a qualitative report of Ganapathi, S., & Duggal, S in PLoS ONE, 18(3), e0282415, the perceived awareness and engagement among frontline doctors were low, with two prominent barriers being the hype surrounding AI and a lack of protected time. This makes me wonder why doctors don’t use AI much in their practice. Can AI really help doctors? Can AI correctly support the doctors? Thus, I search and find another study which is quantitative. In this study of Jonathan G. Richens et al. in Nat Commun 11, 3923 (2020), each General Practitioner achieved a mean score of 71.40%, Babylon’s older AI achieved 72.52%, whilst the new AI achieved 77.26%. It indicates that AI diagnoses better than the doctor. However, in what case, AI is able to diagnose better than doctor? And in what case, AI is able to diagnose worse than the doctors? Further studies are needed. However, we can see the implementation potential of AI is big.

In conclusion, I believe that AI will play an important role in healthcare in order to improve the treatment quality of doctors. The key thing is increasing the AI engagement of the doctors, and integrating the power of AI and medical expertise.

Break the fake part 2- UFO in Canada!

When I was searching for fun fact about science, I saw the post on twitter talked about the UFO sightings in Canada down below pre-pandemic levels. CTV News on Twitter: “UFO sightings in Canada down below pre-pandemic levels https://t.co/cnHYSapYOn https://t.co/1Me6OJUQmh” / Twitter

I decided to verify the source. First, I searched about CTV News on Wikipedia. And it seemed that the CTV News was very reliable.

Then I moved to step 2, I used fact checking tool (snopes.com) to check this information. And there was not so much information about UFO in snopes.com so I couldn’t confirm that the information is true.

I moved to last step, checking the other sources. After searching on Google News for a while, I found some information about UFO sighting in Canada. But I also couldn’t confirm this information was true because there was not any report on UFO in Canada from expert sources.

In conclusion, this information maybe isn’t correct because it has not been yet verified from the professional sources or there was not any expert consensus on this information.

TOKTWD

Welcome back to my blog. Today, I will tell you about a special day at my school – Take Our Kid To Work Day (TOKTWD).

In Take Our Kid To Work Day, students will go to their parents’ work place to experience their parents’ job environment. I am an International Student and I’m very excited for this interesting day, yet unfortunately my custodian and homestay parents haven’t worked anymore, thus; I went to library of Dr. Charles Best to do some work there.

1.What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 2nd?

The environment at the library is very quiet. I could see librarians walked around, renewed, and lent book for students. Also, I could see some students stayed at the library to study, do homeworks, and read books. Librarians are very nice and friendly. I felt very comfortable here.

2.What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day?

The environment would motivate me to wake up every day is an active, friendly, and a little bit competition environment.

3.What about the environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work?

The environment would discourage me from waking up every day to attend work is a harsh and stressful environment.

In conclusion, If I had a choice to work, I would choose biomedical engineering. I hope that I will have another chance to experience my future job.
