Foods final assignment

Note: this is a dish I would like to cook.

The dish that I chose is poutine. The reason I chose this dish is that I simply really like it, I want to try making it someday so I figured that this would be a good chance to research it. Poutine is also a fairly simple dish so I can make it with no real problems as well.

I grew up with poutine, we used to have it all the time at a place named Belgium Fries. With this recipe I want to try and recreate the experience of eating their at home. And considering what’s happening right now, it’s a good time to try things at home. I’ve also learned a few things abot making poutine, and just poutine in general. Some examples are that the best cheese for poutine is mozzarella, and that the name poutine comes from the French slang for “mess”.

Actually making Poutine is simple as you only need three ingredients, fries, cheese curls, and gravy. You simply fry the fries, then put the cold cheese curls on it, then finally heat up the gravy and drizzle it over the fries and curls. Then you can put any toppings you may want and let it cool off if need be. That’s about all to it, very simple recipe.

But what’s interesting about poutine is that while it’s a simple dish, there are infinite ways to make it thanks to the amount of toppings that work well on it. You can put nearly anything on poutine and it will taste great on it. So I suggest that if anyone wants to make poutine, they should experiment as almost anything works with poutine.

Ingredients:

Recipe:

Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C). While the oil is heating warm your gravy.

Place the fries into the hot oil, and cook until light brown, about 5 minutes. You can cook them in batches If you need or want to.

Place the fries on a plate and sprinkle the cheese over them. Pour gravy over the fries and cheese, once it is sufficiently hot. Then serve.

I got help with the ingredients and recipe from https://www.allrecipes.com

food photography assignment

note: i couldn’t upload any photos on here, so I uploaded them separately on teams

Photo 1, cheese omelet with fruits:

For this photo I decided to have the background be brown, this way the omelet along with the plate it’s on and the props would stand out. I included the fruits and spatula to add in some more colour to the photo. I liked this photo because it has a colourfull environment. But what I don’t like is that I had the camera to far from the food and props so it’s hard to focus on anything in the picture.

Photo 2, grapefruit:

In this photo I has a white background so that the bottom would stand out. I also used grapefruit and the that specific spoon in order to add more colour. I like the lighting I got on the grapefruit. But I don’t like how the grapefruit didn’t end up perfectly in the center,

Photo 3, red pepper:

I used the brown background to help the plate, pepper, and other props stand out. The pepper and jar also add colour to the picture. I like how I used the foreground, mid ground, and background to create depth. However, I don’t like how I didn’t focus enough on the pepper so it looks to small and out of focus.

Microbit engineering design process 2

My idea for a step counter worked. i can make it so that every time the micro bit feels you move, it will increase the variable in it for the number of steps you’ve taken, then if you press the A button it will show a number corresponding with the number of steps it has detected. If you press the B button, it will reset the number of steps you’ve taken to zero. I wasn’t able to include a function that can calculate how many calories you’ve burned walking however, because the micro bit can only count one variable for at any time, not two. But other then that, the microbit has been a success so far.
