Now the project is finished!
this is the entrance/living room, it is a parallel and series circuit. The green light is brighter while the red ones are dimmer.
This is the bedroom, It is a series circuit. The lights have the same brightness.
This is the bathroom, it is a series circuit. The lights have the same amount of brightness.
This is the kitchen (bulb one). It is a parallel circuit with two switches. This is bulb one being lit.
This is the kitchen (bulb 2). It is a parallel circuit with two switches. This is the second bulb being lit.
My Self Reflection
Communication- This project helped develop my communication competency by making me work in a group of three instead of just me. It was easier to work in a group rather than alone because the work that had to be done was split between three people. Communicating with my group wasn’t just us talking but it was also us individually knowing how to complete the project and sharing out ideas to make sure we all knew how to do every part of it. If we did not share our ideas and communicate then we would all be lost and only know how to do fragments of the project.
Thinking- This project helped develop my thinking competency by making me use my knowledge of circuits and use it in real life. Without this project, the material I learned would only be useful to me in tests. Now I know how to build a circuit, not just talk about it. I wasn’t stumped at any point with this project because all of the class work had prepared me for it. I did have to think about how to get one of my rooms to be brighter than the others, but in the end I understood.
Personal and Social- This project helped develop my personal and social competency by letting me hear different ideas so that I could diversify my thoughts. Working with different people can change the way you think. Hearing other people’s ideas could change the quality of your ideas. I built relationships with my group members, I can trust them to get their part of the work done. I kept myself on a steady path to get this project done. My group and I did a good job of working together to get the project done. I personally did my part and so did my group.

Today we gathered materials and figured out who is bringing what materials. Ainsley said she will bring all of the decorations and the batteries, we decided to use lego pieces. Alexandra is bringing the shoe box. I am bringing the glue gun and the glue. We plan to make four rooms, the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and the entrance/living room. The bedroom and bathroom are both series circuits and the entrance/living room and the kitchen are parellel. hopefully the circuits will work and that none of the parts are broken. I predict that the wires may be hard to strip and cut.
Today we started to build the house. I brought the glue gun and the glue, Ainsley brought the decorations and the batteries, and Alexandra brought the shoe box. Alexandra striped the wires, Ainsley sketched on the box, and I made the circuit drawings. Tomorrow we need to get our batteries and glue in the walls and decorations.
Today we finished the decorations by hot gluing the furniture onto the shoe box then we glued in the walls. After that we got started on the building of our circuit. We got our battery snaps and the switches then connected the wires to the batteries and closed the switch light up the rooms. We finished the project!
Now we think of ways to improve this project. I think we might have been able to get more done today if we started working right as we got into class. We were a little overwhelmed with the project at first but I don’t think you can improve a reaction to an assignment. We tried putting the walls in first but found that it would be hard to glue in the furniture so we didn’t stick with it. We also tried to use conducting wires but we later found out that they weren’t needed to complete the circuit because the lightbulbs could be connected on their own.

I picked the bathroom. The type of circuit I built is a series circuit. There are two lightbulbs, one battery, conducting wires and a switch. The circuit works because it is complete and the electrons can pass through the lightbulbs to give them energy to light up. The electrons go through the circuit until the battery dies. In a series circuit the current is the same no matter where you measure it. I picked a series circuit for the bathroom because it is a small room which means a parallel circuit would not be needed, the circuit I have made has lightbulbs closer than they would be if they were in parallel. That is why a series is more practical.
