Before this unit I had never formally learned how to write a story. In this unit I learned how to structure a short story. I thought critically to develop ideas for the narrative essay. Specifically in the brainstorming portion and the editing at the end. I had to think of something original to write about and I’m happy to say that I did. Usually my problem with writing is using an idea that isn’t very strong and then the whole essay crumbles because of it. I analyzed in this unit when I was making my graphic organizer. I had to see if there was symbolism in the story or if there was irony of any kind. Meaning that I had to evaluate the story. I gave and received feedback when we did the peer editing exercise. I assessed other peoples’s stories and did my best to improve what I could for them. I also received feedback and took my classmates advice to improve my story. I also explored different possibilities to get a better outcome. When I was writing the narrative essay, I blurted words onto my page so that I could exhaust every possibility of where my story could go. For example, I said that my protagonist could be murdering because he wants to escape a person or how I said he could have had the protagonist have followers who help him kill. I also questioned if I wanted the story to only take place in the hall that I started the story in.

- Review the employability skills listed, describe the skills you currently have and how you used them in the activites.
My employability skills include being able to work in a team, managing time, and keeping an enthusiastic attitude. For example, I worked with my class (my team) to get out of the human knot. We couldn’t get out of the knot if everybody did their own thing. We worked as a team in the first activity when someone didn’t know the answer so the rest of the class would give them hints. I threw the yarn to so the group didn’t have to wait for me to figure it out. I managed my time well in the second activity when I took the first step untangling my section. Since I did that, I didn’t waste time. I kept an enthusiastic attitude through out both activities by cheering on my class.
2. Discuss the skills that you would like to work on and what you can do to improve or practise them so that you are employable in the future.
I would like to work on my problem solving and flexibility. I can improve my problem solving by taking more time to evaluate the problem then brainstorm solutions that seem plausible. I can improve my flexibility by getting used to change and adapting to new situations. Being flexible is a skill that needs to be built by being open to new opportunities. If I say no to my opportunities I will never become flexible.
