DC Circuit Project

My DC circuit project is the assignment I am most proud of this quarter. Jade Rodgers and I worked on this project together. The circuit I designed down below was especially difficult because I don’t understand physics. I am proud of it because it took me a while to figure out the website and how to make all the electrons flow.

Here is my circuit.

Break the fake – Lana Del Rey

On the site NME, an article was published on february 22, 2021 about Lana Del Rey’s considering quitting music after Amy Winehouse’s death. To verify this is true I followed some basic steps.

1. I searched up the NME magazine on Wikipedia to confirm that this is a reliable source.

2. Then I read through the article searching for proof and or evidence. There is evidence she was interviewed and said those words along with introducing a new album. This made it easy to know if it was true or not since I know the album she introduced is now out.

3. My last step was to check another site to see if other articles contained her thoughts on Amy Winehouse’s Passing. I found three other sites with the same interview and information.

After taking these simple steps I can confirm this article is factual.

English 9

In English 9 Mrs. Flowers had us rewrite a section of the Hunger Games. I chose to rewrite the reaping. In the original version Peeta Mellark was selected as the boy tribute and in my version, Gale Hawthorne.

Here is my assignment.

I have not written anything this long before so it was a jump from grade 8. I am proud of this assignment because I worked hard on it and got  a 93%. I was fond of this assignment because I like the Hunger Games and enjoyed reading the book that led up to this project.

Information Fluency

I am passionate about music and one artist I am particularly drawn to is singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey. I play her albums over and over and do not get tired of listening to them. Elizabeth Grant adopted the stage name “Lana Del Rey” in 2011 when she released her first single “Video Games”. I think her path to fame is inspiring and compelling. When she was 17, she uploaded an online music video without any expectations. The amount of people who viewed it and the response she received blew her away. “Lust for Life”, her fifth album, and her second billboard two-hundred number one, was one of the biggest accomplishments in her career. Lana Del Rey has a variety of songs, including over two hundred unreleased songs! “Meet Me in the Pale Moonlight” and “Say Yes to Heaven”, both unreleased, happen to be two of my favourites. Many of her popular tracks have a melancholy, soulful mood to them and she is known for her deep, rich voice. Even though I have no desire to become a vocal artist myself, I have great admiration for Lana Del Rey. Her music seems to fit in any context; I play her songs in the car, on my walk to school and for my friends and family. Everyone I introduce her music to appreciates her talent. I am looking forward to her new album that is set to be released in March 2021.

Guitar 9

In guitar 9 we had to choose a song to learn from the 1970’s -2000’s. I chose “California Dreamin'” by the Mamas and the Papas.

Here is my guitar. I am proud of myself for learning this song because going into it I thought it was above my skill level. I practiced every day and ended up getting 100% on the final performance. I enjoyed learning this piece because I like listening to it on my own time.
