We ran into some problems with trying to code the accelerometer considering neither of us had done it before.  In our science classes where we learnt how to code micro-bits we never went as far as to learn how to code the extra sensors.  After watching a few videos online I now have a general understanding of to code the extra sensors.

Our idea for the micro-bit is a type of house alarm.  We will use the accelerometer to detect when the door opens.  We will make it either sound an alarm or send a signal to another device to alert the house owner of a break-in.
