week 10 final food blog

For this last assignment I chose to make something I eat a lot at home and is one of my favorite home-cooked meals. It’s basically baked minced meat pasta. My dad found the recipe on his own this year and tried it out. My whole family absolutely loved it because he’s great at cooking pasta dishes. Since my dad is the one who usually cooks it, I decided I should try it out because it seemed really easy to make.

From what I knew all you did was add sauces, vegetables, beef and pasta together. But after cooking it, I realized there are many steps in the process. There isn’t a specific recipe to follow either. My dad stopped using it a while ago, so it’s just approximating and guessing for most steps. Even without an actual recipe, I had my parents guide me while making the dish, so it turned out well. The pasta was as delicious as always. I cooked the meat and pasta enough that it didn’t burn in the oven. I also added a good combination of spices that came together nicely.

The only downside was that there was a larger sauce ratio than pasta ratio. This could’ve been avoided if I had added more pasta in to boil. But I did end up learning a few things. I found out that mushrooms cook really fast, that’s why we could turn the heat off after adding them in. My dad also told me that tomato paste is used to thicken, add color and bring out the tomato flavor. This was one of my first times making a large dinner meal for my family. After learning all the steps in the making of this food, I think I did a good job. I would be able to make it again by myself.

*My family started eating everything before I could take proper pictures with props, my bad.
