Our microbit is about sensing when milk is low. The way it works is that it will detect when there are low amounts of milk using a weight sensor or a pressure plate, which will then set off an alarm that will be snoozable outside of the fridge to alert the user when the milk is low.
Our milk sensor has ran into a few technical problems; the milk sensor would need to be wired up, and it would need to be drilled into the fridge which could be very dangerous, in order to look good and not messily wired. Instead, my idea is to use one of those radio transmitters in order that you can “tell” alarm on the outside that you are low on milk. In addition to the weight sensor, we will need a radio transmitter on both ends and the light and alarm.
