Microbit Smart Device Challenge, Edublog Post 1

In the February advisory we were told that for our last DL assignment we would be making a smart home device with microbits. My partner Liza and I started brainstorming and getting to work right away, and I really like what we came up with.

Our smart device is a tracking device to make sure you don’t lose things like your binder and computer., which would be very helpful for me.

To create our microbit project we found multiple ways we could code it; turning the microbit into a beacon, which we can track through gps, or make it kind like of a hot & cold game. The only problem would that with the hot & cold game you would have to know the general area of your lost things because if not, the game would be extremely difficult and inconvenient. Therefore, we decided to go with a type of gps system.

The device will look like a regular microbit (attached to a battery pack) that is sealed, so it can’t get wet. It will also have attachments, like a keychain clip, a piece of velcro or a magnet, so you can attach it to your stuff.
