My employability skills – a reflection

  1. Review the employability skills listed, describe the skills you currently have and how you used them in the activities.

In the activities, I used teamwork and working in diverse environments. Specifically in the human knot, we needed to problem solve and use our critical thinking, alongside communication to untangle ourselves from one another. Communication was key in this activity. Letting each other speak and share our ideas on ways to solve the problem brought us together as a team, not just a class. Flexibility and adaptability also played a role in this activity because each person needed to be open to moving around and adapting to the situation. In the name web activity, we demonstrated work ethic, for example, we needed to be accountable for remembering each others names and one or two informations. Enthusiasm and attitude were somewhat used because we tried to have fun during the activity, and for that we needed to have a positive attitude.

2. Discuss the skills that you would like to work on and what you can do to improve or practice them so that you are employable in the future.

I would like to work on my problem solving and critical thinking skills. I can develop this skill by permitting through tasks, rather than putting them aside or not completing them at all. This will improve the skills by always putting in effort to find answers and practice good habits which leads to time management. Time management is another skill I would like to work on. I can practice time management by completing homework/projects before using my electronics and building a bad habit, which leads to bad sleeping habits. In addition to problem solving, critical thinking, and time management, I would like to work on professionalism because I think this skill is important for future employability. I can practice professionalism at my current job by staying polite, answering question sign a nice but direct way, and always staying on task.
