Guidelines for commenting

Please be considerate when you are commenting on my work and blogs. This is an guideline to help you comment on my work.

  • Write comments that add to the conversation. Ask a question. Provide a link that might clarify a point. Copy/paste a passage that interests you then write your comments and questions.

I believe that people should stay on topic and not comment random things that don’t help me improve. Asking questions would help me expand my ideas on things I post.

  • Use comments to show what you think is important, interesting, controversial, thoughtful.

I believe that commenting what people think is important, interesting, controversial, and thoughtful would add more to the conversation. This might make other people bring more ideas to this post.

  • Use good grammar and spelling. Mistakes cause readers to focus on how you write, not your ideas.

I think that using good grammar and spelling shows appreciation because people put care into their ideas.

  • Treat people the way you want to be treated.

I believe that treating people the way you want to be treated is really important when it comes to commenting. People should think about how they would feel if they commenting something on their post before commenting anything.

Sample: Blog post is about math tips.

“Hey Junha, thank you for sharing these great math tips. This is really helpful and I think I can use this in my math classes. Next time would you be able to go into more detail? Thanks.”
